In the 21st century what constitutes a family unit is varied. However, most will agree: spending quality time with loved ones is very beneficial. Our families are an important foundation that cannot be underestimated. For some, it is a positive experience that sustains them during turbulent times. Building memories does not have to involve spending exorbitant amounts of money. Ask any kid their favorite part of a weekend and most will report time with family was a highlight. This special time is the building block of self-esteem, learning, and a sense of belonging. With this in mind, the Los Angeles Public Library provides wonderful resources to support family togetherness and fun. Here is a list of selections that spark the imagination and encourage family unity.

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.”—Benjamin Franklin
