Nació en Lisboa en 1977 y vivió hasta los dieciocho años en una pequeña ciudad del interior de Portugal que se llama casi como ella: Castelo Branco. Tocaba el piano y pasaba las vacaciones en casa de sus abuelos, en Aveiro, dibujando y explorando distintas técnicas de pintura. Y también haciendo fotografías, con la vieja Canon de su padre. A los dieciocho años se fue a estudiar arquitectura a Oporto. Después, la curiosidad le llevó a hacer un Erasmus en Barcelona. Iba a estar solo un año, pero la ciudad le gustó tanto que acabó quedándose y haciendo un máster en arquitectura efímera y un doctorado sobre los espacios del teatro en los años sesenta. En 2007 se convertió en editora y desde 2018 funda en solitario AKIARA books, una editorial independiente de literatura infantil y juvenil que publica libros de producción propia, llenos de belleza y profundidad.

Born in Lisboa in 1977, Inês lived in small city in Portugal until she was eighteen. This city's name is remarkably similar to her own - Castelo Branco. She played the piano and spent her vacations at her grandparent's house in Aveiro, where she also drew, explored different painting techiques, and dabbled in photography with her father's old Canon camera. At eighteen, she went to study architecture at Oporto. After this, her curiosity inspired her to take advantage of the Erasmus Programme in Barcelona. She only meant to stay a year, but she liked the city so much she stayed and got her Master's in ephemeral architecture and a doctorate in the theater spaces of the sixties. In 2007 she became an editor and since 2-018 she has founded Akiara books, an indie publisher of children's literature that produces beautiful and profound children's books.
