Description:

Join us for a Valentine’s Day romantic comedy back-to-back double feature!

Starting with: Everybody Loves Somebody (2017, rated PG-13) –

On the surface, Clara Barron (Karla Souza) has it all: a career as an OB-GYN doctor, a great house in Los Angeles, and a close-knit family. The one thing she hasn’t figured out is her love life, which has been reduced to a string of one-night stands. Pressured to attend a family wedding in Mexico, Clara asks a co-worker to pose as her boyfriend for the weekend festivities; when they get there, her sexy ex (José María Yazpik) suddenly shows up after having completely disappeared from her life years ago. Clara must decide between going back to the past or opening her heart to new possibilities. Sparks fly as the majestic Baja scenery unfolds in this heartfelt bilingual rom-com.

Followed by: It Happened One Night (1934) –

In Frank Capra's all-time classic rom-com, spoiled heiress Ellie Andrews (Claudette Colbert) impetuously marries the scheming King Westley, a rash decision that causes her tycoon father to angrily whisk her away on his yacht. When Ellie jumps ship and hits the road to try to reunite with her new husband, she falls in with cynical newspaper reporter Peter Warne (Clark Gable), who blackmails her into letting him tag along for an exclusive story, or else he’ll blow the whistle and return her to her father. At first scornful of each other and grouchy about their close quarters, the reporter finds himself falling for the feisty heiress as they travel along – until they miss their bus and get stranded in the countryside. Who will Ellie wind up with, and will Peter get the scoop? It Happened One Night was the first of only three films ever to win all five major Oscars. It’s the original rom-com blueprint, still as funny and sweet today as it was in 1934.
