Description:

Join the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health for a presentation for fire survivors and others affected by disaster. The session focuses on how emotional and physical stress can continue or reappear around the one-year mark, even when daily life has stabilized.

The presentation normalizes common experiences such as grief, anxiety, fatigue, sleep changes, and difficulty concentrating, and emphasizes that recovery does not follow a single timeline. Participants will learn why anniversaries can be activating, how stress is stored in the body, and why symptoms may feel stronger after initial support fades.

Practical, accessible strategies for self-care and coping will be shared, along with information about community resources and support options. The presentation is trauma-informed, non-clinical, and open to all community members seeking understanding and tools for healing.
