Description:
Sometime between 600 and 800 C.E., a small group of Polynesians paddled the ocean in search of a new land. For generations, their ancestors had expanded eastwards in the vast Pacific Ocean, guided only by the stars. They found a small island in the Pacific over 1,000 miles from the other islands of Eastern Polynesia and some 1,400 miles west of South America. It is one of the most remote inhabited places in the world.
But, it is definitely worth a visit. Easter Island (or Rapa Nui as it is more properly called) is home to the most amazing sculptures known as Maoi.
How were these massive heads created? How were they moved? What else can we learn about Rapa Nui?
Join Lee Rubinstein via Zoom as we explore this remote yet amazing place.
