Description:

John McLean Allan will present a history of the bagpipes and explain how the instrument has influenced the culture of Scotland. As he performs, he will also teach the audience how to dance a jig and reel. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the bagpipes played up close. One of the highlights will be the timeless Amazing Grace, showcasing the power and beauty of the bagpipe. His program introduces both children and adults to the fundamentals of the bagpipe, teaches them two contrasting tunes, encourages audience participation through clapping and foot tapping, and demonstrates how to perform a traditional Scottish dance. Amazing Grace is one of the classics he will play.
