Description:

The kimono has been part of Japanese culture for over 1,200 years. Originally worn by commoners or as an undergarment by the aristocracy, beginning in the 16th century, the kimono became the principal dress item for all classes and sexes. Ever wondered what goes into putting on a kimono? Or ask yourself what an obi is?

Join us as we welcome the Los Angeles Kimono Club. We will have a demonstration of different kinds of kimonos, and the program features a "Kimono dressing dance."

This event is generously sponsored by the Sherman Oaks Friends of the Library.
