Description:
Join us at Edendale for our ongoing celebration of the centennial year of the Central Library! Historian Mary Mallory presents a look at the first women of Los Angeles. Learn all about the pioneering women who shaped our city’s history, including organizers, activists, journalists, Hollywood stars, and even librarians.
Women have often been the movers and shakers for improving the community, establishing the arts, and even building monuments. We will discuss such visionaries and trailblazers as Arcadia Bandini, Aline Barnsdall, Biddy Mason, Charlotta Bass, Christine Sterling, Christine Wetherwill Stevenson, Lois Weber, Anna May Wong, Clara Foltz, Miriam Matthews, Tessa Kelso and Aimee Semple MacPherson.
