You’re free to choose anyone but we’re partial to North Hollywood’s former children’s librarian Nettie Frishman who was so beloved during her 33-year career at the library that a fundraiser in her name still exists today. What about the formidable Althea Warren? She led the San Diego Library from 1916 to 1926 before joining the Los Angeles Public Library and leading our library system from 1933 to 1947. She also served as President of both the California Library Association (1921) and the American Library Association (1943-44).
