Description:
June is Pride Month, and though gay and lesbian individuals may be more visible in today's society, bisexual, pansexual, and fluid individuals may still not be as visible or understood, despite being the largest population within the LGBT spectrum. Attend this workshop to learn more about basic terms and definitions, gain awareness of the diversity of the bi+ community, and be able to define biphobia and bi erasure. You will leave this talk with helpful tips on becoming a better bi ally.
This talk will be presented by Dr. Mimi Hoang. Dr. Hoang (she/her) is an award-winning psychologist, life coach, and advocate specializing in the LGBTQ+ and Asian American communities. Since the 1990s, she co-founded three organizations for bisexual, pansexual, and fluid individuals - the Los Angeles Bi+ Task Force (LABTF), amBi Los Angeles, and Fluid at UCLA. Dr. Mimi's leadership has earned her a seat at the landmark 2013 White House Bisexual Community Roundtable and the title of “One of the Most Significant Women in the Bisexual Movement.” She currently works as the Program Coordinator of the LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Therapy Center at Airport Marina Counseling Services professor at the USC Marriage and Family Therapy Program, and owns a private practice.
This talk is presented in partnership with the Los Angeles County Psychological Association.
