Description:

Join us for our monthly Teen Council meeting for current members and interested teens.

The Sherman Oaks Library Teen Council is an advisory group of 6th through 12th graders who work with the Young Adult Librarian to enhance the library experience of other teens in the community.

Sherman Oaks Library Teen Council Members will...

Attend Teen Council meetings one Tuesday per month at 4 p.m.
Meet and work with other teens in the community of different ages and backgrounds
Brainstorm and share ideas for improving the library experience
Help set up, clean up, and facilitate programs at the library with the YA Librarian
Serve as an ambassador in your community to promote the library

The benefits of joining the Teen Council are that you will meet other teens in the community, develop leadership and advocacy skills, and earn community service hours.

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Friends groups raise money for improvements to their library through memberships, used book sales and other activities. For more information click here or talk to your local librarian.

Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs. Foundation members receive a variety of benefits with their membership. For more information, see http://www.lfla.org.
