Join us for the next gathering of the Sci Fi Story Club. We’ll be discussing two stories: Shelter by Nadia W. Aldsen and And We Shall Find Rest by James Sallis. In Nadia W. Aldsen’s story, a social worker employed at a spaceport in Chile works long hours welcoming extraterrestrial travelers to a dormitory where they can decompress after their long journey to Earth. When a new variety of traveler arrives, the social worker’s career path takes an unexpected turn.
The acclaimed crime novelist, poet, translator and science fiction writer James Sallis passed away earlier this year. One of his final stories sketches a melancholy but vivid near-future scenario of alien visitation and human transience.
