Description:
From iconic portraits of outspoken American legends to the small moments signifying a single person’s call for change, Tish Lampert’s photographic work intimately captures the hope and determination of U.S. social movements over the past 25 years. Inserting herself on the front lines of a particularly conflicted era in American history, Tish’s images celebrate the dogged human spirit intent on raising awareness of social injustice and emotionally driving civic change. Bring your lunch and join us as Tish shares images from her body of photographic work.
L.A.-based photojournalist and writer Tish Lampert began her work in the 1970s with a focus on human rights issues. She has spotlighted struggles across the globe, from Guatemala to Sub-Sahara Africa and throughout the U.S. For five years, she served as media director and photographer for Voices of African Mothers at the United Nations. She is the recipient of two Nathan Cummings Foundation Family Grants, and her photographs are part of numerous private collections, both in the U.S. and in the U.K. She is also the creator and host of the popular podcast America Speaks and the author of We Protest: Fighting for the America We Believe In (Rizzoli Books, 2020), which captures the spirit of the heroes and ordinary citizens on their activist journeys to defend American values during the most conflicted era in our recent history.
