Description:

Join us for an engaging, multi-part program exploring Armenian heritage and diaspora identity through the lens of culinary traditions, memories, and personal narratives, featuring journalist Liana Aghajanian. Liana’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, and other publications. She has a project tracing Armenian food stories and legacy in America called Dining in Diaspora.

This program will include a discussion with Liana about her experience documenting foodways and individual histories in the Armenian diaspora, followed by a showcase of some of her favorite ingredients used in Armenian cooking. There will also be a guided or take home zine-making activity for participants to practice documenting their own family recipes, food memories, and cultural heritage.

All ages are welcome to attend, and all materials will be provided.

This program is generously supported by the Friends of Silver Lake Library.
