Description:
Fruitstitute is partnering with the Library to offer this workshop to help you learn proper care for your fruit trees! Hosted in partnership with Elysian Heights School Garden at their orchard, attendees will get their hands dirty and pruners sharp as we do the seasonal pruning and feeding on their fruit trees. The goal of this workshop is to give the trees the care they need to improve tree health and to teach people why and how to care for their backyard fruit trees.
The workshop will begin with a lecture on seasonal care of fruit trees, including tree assessment, biology, and physiology. This discussion will be followed by a two-hour pruning session where participants will gain hands-on experience pruning citrus trees and some other varieties, using the orchard as our classroom.
Be prepared! Wear sunscreen, sunglasses. and hats, and bring lots of water. Pruning is physical labor and hard work. Please dress appropriately (boots, long sleeves) and be ready to get dirty.
This workshop is not suitable for children.
