Join Dr. Andrea Liss on Zoom for our next Good Trouble Reading Group. We’ll be discussing a selection of stories from No Sweetness Here by Ghanaian author and poet Ama Ata Aidoo. In this collection, Aidoo explores postcolonial life in Ghana with her well-known honesty and humor. Tradition wrestles with new urban influences as her characters try to sort out their identity in a changing culture, expressing themselves through distinct voices and speech. If there is no sweetness, there is still the salt essential to life, even if it comes from tears—and the strength that comes from a history of endurance.
