Description:
Octavia E. Butler, author of the powerful and prophetic Parable of the Sower, wrote: "There is nothing new under the sun, but there are new suns." As our city continues to heal, reconvene, and reset following the January wildfires, we invite you to join us for an evening of poetry featuring new and leading Black voices in celebration of Black History Month. Our reading will be followed by an open mic, where we encourage members of the community to reflect, dream, and discover with us.
As our city, our nation, and our world experiences ongoing, often fraught change, we’re privileged to be able to anchor ourselves in the words and wisdom of Black visionaries, reminding us of the cyclical nature of our collective struggles and glory.
