Description:

Explore the transformation of LA’s iconic 6th Street Bridge through a series of striking photographs, capturing its historic final days and modern rebirth. These images celebrate the bridge’s legacy and the city’s ever-evolving spirit. Join photographer Linda Posnick as she shares her journey documenting this monumental project, blending tradition and progress into a powerful visual narrative that honors Los Angeles’ past and future.

Linda Posnick: A visual storyteller born and raised in the vibrant cultural mosaic of 1960s Los Angeles, Linda Posnick’s biracial heritage gave her a unique perspective in a city undergoing profound social change. In the mid-1970s, Posnick discovered her passion for photography, a medium that allowed her to merge creativity with observation. Her career took a pivotal turn in the late 80’s when she began working alongside the legendary photographer Herb Ritts. One of Posnick’s most ambitious projects was her documentation of Los Angeles’ iconic 6th Street Bridge. Recognizing the bridge’s symbolic connection to the city’s cultural identity, she set out to preserve its legacy through her lens. As demolition loomed, she captured its final days, freezing moments of nostalgia and significance. Her focus then shifted to the reconstruction process, chronicling the emergence of a modern architectural marvel infused with contemporary design. Through this juxtaposition of past and future, Posnick created a visual narrative that mirrors Los Angeles’ evolution—a city rooted in history yet constantly redefining itself.
