Description:
Jerry de Wilde, aka "Dok", moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles in 1960 to study theater, and after meeting the photographer Robert Frank, de Wilde became his assistant and production coordinator. Encouraged by Frank, de Wilde shifted his focus to photography, capturing on film the emerging counterculture of California, including his time with "The Farm" collective, the Monterey Pop Festival, and anti-war demonstrations. Photo Friends is delighted to host this visionary artist who will present selections from his body of work and recount his career and life experiences spanning six decades. Copies of de Wilde's book In Case You Missed It: Counterculture Photography of the 1960s and 1970s, published by Angel City Press, will be available for purchase.
