Description:
Los Angeles has an incredible climate that allows us to grow everything from tropical fruits like bananas and melons to cool-weather crops such as beets and Brussels sprouts. This unique year-round growing season makes producing your own food a truly fun and rewarding experience!
Whether you are a first-time gardener or a seasoned green thumb, join urban farmer and educator Elliott Kuhn (Cottonwood Urban Farm) for an engaging, in-depth presentation on how you can embark on your own journey from seed to table. The session will cover organic gardening fundamentals, including soil and site preparation, container gardening, seed starting and propagation techniques, seasonal planting and harvesting, integrated pest management, succession planting for extended harvests, fruit tree and orchard considerations, irrigation strategies, and the vital role of pollinators.
Participants will enjoy fresh produce samples and have the opportunity to take home select seeds to kickstart their own gardening projects. A comprehensive resource guide will be provided to complement the PowerPoint presentation and discussion.
