During this one-hour presentation, Sunny will introduce his characters: Kappa, Lucky Cat, Daruma, and Kokeshi, sharing their origins and the steps he took to design them for his books. He will explain the earliest manga, dating back to the Japanese Heian Period more than 500 years ago. And he is thrilled to introduce Hokusai, the artist who coined the word "manga!" Sunny’s most recent book is called Hokusai’s Daughter, so Sunny is very knowledgeable about this famous artist who has influenced so many young people today. Finally, Sunny will guide members of the audience as they draw their own manga characters!
