Description:

Our family photos and albums hold the memories we carry with us across generations and from one home to another. They're the first thing we bring out when gathered around to tell stories of our ancestors, of our childhoods, of moments that shaped our lives. Over time, albums can degrade and residue from plastic and glue can damage photos. Knowledge of dates, names, and places can get lost to time and memory. What can we do to make sure our photos and albums last?

Join our workshop in the Community Room to learn basic tips on preserving photographs. We will explore different storage options, labeling, and care in a hands-on, communal setting. Bring some photographs or an album and get ready to think like an archivist!

The Los Angeles Public Library offers this workshop as part of Community: Your Archive, Your Legacy, an initiative supported by the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and funded by the Mellon Foundation.
