Description:

Join us for a special reading of an inspiring short play, Dr. Ellen Ochoa: A Spark in Our Sky about Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina woman in space. From her childhood in La Mesa, California, to her groundbreaking journey aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery, Ellen’s story is one of perseverance, passion, and breaking barriers. Ellen Ochoa has given Enrichment Works the rights to tell her story, and she is involved in the final writing process of this play.

Please stay after the reading to give your input on the play. We really want to hear from the community.

This program is made possible by the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Enrichment Works creates and presents professional theater to inspire learning. Enrichment Works provides young people with what is often their first experience of a live theatrical performance and does so in a highly relevant and interactive form at schools, libraries, museums, and other public community venues.

The organization integrates theater arts with these important subjects to help students connect emotionally to the topics dealing with history, morals & ethics, and stories about people in the Los Angeles community.
