The workshop will begin with an introduction to food safety, followed by a brief lecture on the history, supplies, and ingredients for the featured recipe. A full demonstration of the recipe will precede the hands-on segment, where participants will prepare their own portion to take home. Informational handouts will also be provided.
Brie Wakeland will lead the workshops. She has two years of experience teaching food preservation at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden and the Santa Monica Farmer's Market. Brie is certified in food preservation instruction by Slow Food LA and completed Sandor Katz's Fermentation Residency Program. She is also a culinary arts instructor in Santa Monica and an educator of culinary arts and gardening.
