Description:

Join us for a free live staged reading of Edith Wharton's classic comedy of manners The House of Mirth in Central Library's fabulous Mark Taper Auditorium!

Beautiful Lily Bart spirals from the glittering heights of New York society to the depths of poverty and despair in Jennifer Rowland's stunning new adaptation of Edith Wharton's novel. This reading will feature actors from Antaeus Theatre Company, Los Angeles's acclaimed classical theater ensemble. Offered as part of the Library's year-long celebration "Looking at Art-The Book," this performance will allow audience members to experience the thrill of watching a story jump to life from the page to the stage. You won't want to miss this extraordinary live theater event.
