Are you interested in learning how to sight-read? At Central Library's Art Department, you can use your library card to borrow a Music Kit and learn how to read music!

Our Music Kit includes a roll-out keyboard, headphones, a music stand, and a copy of Roger Evans' How to Read Music.

Learn more about our Music Kit by dropping into this free demonstration and beginner music lesson. We'll be learning the names of notes, simple chords, and basic melodies!

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs.
