Description:

This Oral History 101 workshop will provide an introduction to oral history and its role in shaping public memory. Participants will explore the five stages of the Oral History process, examine LAPL collections such as Shades of L.A., and learn about trauma-informed interview techniques and tools. Attendees will also have the opportunity to practice interviewing skills and engage with materials related to community archiving. This workshop is open to anyone interested in documenting and preserving personal, family, or community stories.

The Los Angeles Public Library offers this workshop as part of Community: Memory and Belonging in Los Angeles, an initiative supported by the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and funded by the Mellon Foundation.
