Description:

Join us for a spirited and engaging discussion of the world's best short stories! All selections are from The Ecco Anthology of Contemporary American Short Fiction (HarperCollins, 2008), eds. Joyce Carol Oates and Christopher R. Beha. This month's selections are:

December 2: People in Hell Just Want a Drink of Water by Annie Proulx
December 9: The Red Bow by George Saunders
December 16: Leslie and Sam by Douglas Unger
December 23: The Brown Chest by John Updike
December 30: Incarnations of Burned Children by David Foster Wallace

We meet every Monday morning (excluding holidays).

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Friends groups raise money for improvements to their library through memberships, used book sales and other activities. For more information click here or talk to your local librarian.

Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs.
