Description:
Come learn how to hand sew a soft cover book using the Long Stitch method of binding with Nova Community Arts. We will be repurposing recycled packaging as the material for the book's covers. Participants may bring any clean paper or cardboard items to repurpose as book covers, including cardboard snack or cereal boxes, old art, or any other paper or non-corrugated cardboard materials. Or, choose from our collection of Riso misprints and other reusable goods. Then you’ll select your thread, assemble the book block, and (optionally) add a cool charm to your binding. You’ll leave with your very own book that makes a great sketchbook, planner, or notebook!
This is a hands-on, in-person activity where participants will learn bookbinding skills as they hand stitch together their own soft cover book. We will provide all materials needed to make the books, but bringing in materials to repurpose is encouraged!
