Description:
Do you have old photographs, old letters, documents, and years of memories stored away in boxes long forgotten? Have you wondered about what will happen to these precious artifacts in the future? This workshop will provide a framework for how to think like an archivist when caring for your personal or family photographs, paper documents, and film. Attendees will practice appraising and identifying materials, learn about proper storage, and the basics of digitization. This workshop is open to anyone interested in documenting and preserving personal, family, or community stories.
The Los Angeles Public Library offers this workshop as part of Community: Memory and Belonging in Los Angeles, an initiative supported by the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and funded by the Mellon Foundation.
