Description:

When Thereminist Ed Sussman waves his hands, he plays music from "out of the air." In this unique music, history, and technology experience, he reveals the 100-year-old story of the Theremin, its inventor ("a Russian spy"), and the beginnings of electronic music.

The Theremin was the first electronic instrument and inspired the creation of modern electronic instruments and music. Its novel sound is mostly associated with old science fiction and horror films. To the amazement of many, you will hear classical, popular, jazz, and rock classics! After the presentation, the audience can experience this unique method of making music with a "wave of their hands."

This program is made possible by the LA Made Fund.
