Join us for Fun Interactive Science Hour (FISH)!
FISH is a project that aims to improve access for all kids to ocean science literacy through hands-on experiments. Four (4) workshops will be hosted at the library, you can participate in all of them or individually.
Workshop 2: How Do Oceans Move - The water in the ocean is constantly moving like a conveyor belt. But what drives the water that may have touched your toes at a beach to be pushed up to shore and to be pushed back? In short, it is all physics. To be more specific it is the differences in temperature and salinity between surface and deep water that are constantly pushing ocean water currents. In addition, wind has an effect on surface water currents as well. To learn more about how the ocean moves, come to our workshop.
Additional FISH workshops:
- April 20, 2026 Workshop 3: Coral Bleaching
- April 27, 2026 Workshop 4: Life Cycles
The FISH workshops are in collaboration with postdoctoral scientists at the University of Southern California and the Neighborhood Science Program at the Los Angeles Public Library.
