Request to Rename the Board Room After Leontyne Butler King

The Los Angeles Public Library Board is soliciting public comments on a proposal initiated to name the Central Library Board of Library Commissioners Meeting Room in honor of Leontyne Butler King, the first African American to serve on the Board.

The Board of Library Commissioners encourages community members to submit written comments for this proposal to:

Comments may also be submitted by email to: libcommission@lapl.org, no later than December 12, 2025. All feedback will be included in the public record and considered in finalizing this proposal to honor Leontyne Butler King.
