Description:
Celebrate the power of art and storytelling with Metro Art and the Los Angeles Public Library. Whether you're drawing, reading, or exploring the garden, this event is all about connecting to your community and creating your own stories along the way.
Local artist J Michael Walker, creator of the new Sun Valley Through the Eyes of Artists poster, will be signing copies of the poster and sharing how his artwork captures the wild beauty and cultural roots of the neighborhood—from golden poppies and barn owls to moonlit coyotes and prickly pear cactus. His storybook-style illustration was designed to inspire families to slow down, observe, and create stories together, naming animals, imagining adventures, and exploring how people and nature connect.
A hands-on art activity will also be available for you to design your own Metro-style bus wrap—a creative canvas to express what makes your neighborhood special.
Take time to enjoy the library's native plant garden, a living tribute to the biodiversity that inspired the artwork. From fragrant sages to buzzing pollinators, it's a peaceful spot to reflect, read, or dream up your next story.
How to Get There by Metro:
- Metro Bus Line 90/91 or 222: Exit at Vineland Ave / Strathern St—just a short walk to the library.
- Metro B Line (Red): Take the Red Line to North Hollywood Station, then transfer to *Bus 90 toward Sun Valley.
- Cyclists Welcome: Bike racks are available at the library.
