Description:
The Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP) at UCLA will be conducting a free screening in the Westwood Area to spread awareness and educate about chronic kidney disease (CKD). This disease causes kidney function to be decreased, and approximately 90% of adults with CKD are undiagnosed. As CKD persists, people can experience symptoms like fatigue, weakness, confusion, high blood pressure, and heart problems. Furthermore, the disease eventually leads to kidney failure. Early detection of CKD enables people to make lifestyle changes to remain healthy, while later detection leaves people with limited treatment options (such as dialysis).
UCLA-affiliated physicians will conduct screenings in the Westwood Branch Library Community Room. All are welcome, and no health insurance is required.
For ADA accommodations, call (213) 228-7430 at least 72 hours prior to the event.
