Description:

You'll discover the fun things you can make with just a needle, thread, and simple supplies. You'll stitch a cactus, see buttons created in a 3-D printer, learn how to sew them on, and decorate a little pot.

Designer and author Ellen Lumpkin Brown, originally from Los Angeles, believes that sewing is power! Ellen is the founder and owner of Sew It! Workshop, the Pop Up Sewing Studio, which has been a popular program in libraries, museums and corporations in New Jersey and New York.

The Octavia Lab is a do-it-yourself maker space located inside the Los Angeles Public Library's historic Central Library.
