Every library visit has a story. Take our survey and tell us yours!
Every Story Counts Week takes place January 25 – 31, 2026
Every Story Counts is a statewide initiative to capture data, stories, and photos about how and why Californians use their local public libraries. The Library will be asking patrons to share their stories about visiting the library. We want to hear directly from the community about their own library experiences.
“We all know the value of public libraries and the strong return on investment they provide. Every Story Counts will help us create a more complete picture of the extraordinary range of activities that happen in libraries across the state.”—Greg Lucas, California State Librarian
During the Week of January 25 – 31, the Library will capture photos and videos of library programs and services and encourage patrons to share their own library stories. Whether you’re bringing your child to storytime, using the library computers, checking out books, attending a workshop, using our media labs, asking a question, or doing many of the other things you can do at the library, we want to hear about it!
