End of Life Planning 101: Power of Attorney and Decision Making

About the Event

The End-of-Life Planning 101 workshop series is designed to help individuals understand, navigate, and take action on key end-of-life planning topics. Facilitated by the PAUSE team and rotating BIPOC death doulas and guest speakers, each 90-minute session offers education, grounding, and space for questions around essential documents and decisions - from advance directives and wills to body disposition, digital legacy, and grief plans for loved ones. Whether participants are just beginning to think about end-of-life planning or need support updating existing paperwork, this series provides compassionate, culturally relevant guidance to approach these conversations with clarity, care, and confidence.

This session focuses on Powers of Attorney and decision-making, exploring who can speak on your behalf if you're unable to make your own healthcare or financial decisions. Participants will learn about Durable Powers of Attorney, how these documents work, and key considerations for choosing someone they trust to act as their proxy.
