Film Screening: Project Hail Mary
About the Event
Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no idea who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to recall his mission: he’s the last survivor of a team sent to solve the riddle of the mysterious substance that’s causing the sun to die out, for which he was chosen because of his expertise in speculative astrobiology. It’s a Project Hail Mary (2026, rated PG-13) mission, and the stakes are crushingly high. But his isolation ends when a strange spaceship docks to his, carrying a silicon-based fellow space traveler. Ryland must join forces with this being, whose home planet is also facing extinction, to try to save the star system together. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, known for their animated epics, take us on a visually dazzling and poignant adventure.
