Recipes, Zines, and Memory-Keeping
About the Event
Memories are often made around the dinner table, in the kitchen, and at our favorite neighborhood restaurants. How can we preserve those moments that shape us and share them with our loved ones? Join us for an afternoon of cooking and zine-making with an eye on storytelling as archival practice.
1:00pm: Cooking Demo TBA
2:30pm: Recipe Zine-making with LA Zine Fest
Make a zine with the Los Angeles Zine Fest! Learn the history of zines and how you can create your own eight page mini-zine to record a recipe to share or give as a gift. Participants will have the option to photocopy and exchange zines.
Throughout the afternoon, check out the collections and resources table where we’ll have neighborhood highlights from the LAPL Menu Collection, information about DIY archiving with LAPL, and a free raffle to win a personal archiving starter kit.
