Description:

Get off to a great genealogical start by consulting with members of the California African American Genealogical Society (CAAGS) about your family tree! Today, they'll provide one-on-one assistance in our computer lab to help you figure out strategies and tactics to unearth those tricky ancestors. It's first come, first served (no reservations taken), and each session will last about 30 minutes. Bring your research and have specific questions and family lines in mind. This is a special (and free) opportunity to get expert help from the friendly folks of CAAGS. To learn about CAAGS, check out their website here.

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Friends groups raise money for improvements to their library through memberships, used book sales and other activities. For more information click here or talk to your local librarian.

Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs.
