A dark yet beautiful retelling of The Brothers Grimm's Goose Girl. An adolescent girl, an evil sorceress mother, a wealthy squire and his spinster sister, a horse named Falada, some geese, magic, obedience, abuse, love, friendship, good and evil... this book had it all!

A wonderfully written book, bringing fresh life to several old fairy tales. An interesting perspective on power, including women's previous roles in it. And despite everything, I'm glad the 'horse' isn't really dead.
