Author Talk With Stephen Gee - Los Angeles Central Library: A History of its Art and Architecture

About the Event

In Los Angeles Central Library: A History of its Art and Architecture, the Library’s beautiful building, paintings, murals, sculptures, decor, and storied tile work are captured by the lens of renowned Hollywood documentarian, photographer and graphic designer Arnold Schwartzman. And its remarkable story visuals and civic involvement are chronicled by architectural historian Stephen Gee.

Discover the Central Library's fascinating history with author Stephen Gee as he explores its unique art and architecture. Did you know that visitors once entered the building via a tunnel filled with artwork, or that the iconic murals in the rotunda weren't added until 1932? Join us to uncover these stories and more.

Stephen Gee is an award-winning writer and television producer, and the author of five books on Los Angeles and architecture, including Los Angeles Central Library: A History of its Art and Architecture and Iconic Vision: John Parkinson, Architect of Los Angeles.
