Rooted in Memory: Floral Photograph Collage & Archive Exploration

About the Event

Your archives are abloom. Join Black Image Center and The Octavia Lab for a floral adornment workshop and a tour. Artist Da'Shaunae Marie will lead a workshop where attendees can create a floral collage rooted in ancestral memory. Additionally, attendees will learn about all the tools and resources available at the Octavia Lab to explore other unique ways of reimagining their photographic archives.

What to bring: Your favorite family photos.

Da'Shaunae Marisa is a creative entrepreneur and visual storyteller working across photography, film, and public art. Through this work, she reimagines traditional visual narrative by centering healing, joy, and creative expansion. Her practice spans photojournalism for international publications, fine art collage rooted in ancestral memory, and brand collaborations that merge storytelling with social impact.
