Plant Identification Hike at Griffith Park
Past Event
About the Event
Join us for an early summer canyon hike where we will identify some of the native and naturalized edible and medicinal plants that grow in California. We will learn about the appearance, habitat, collecting technique, and possible edible or medicinal uses of each plant.
The hike will be 1 hour of walking/hiking and is welcome to all, beginner or seasoned hikers. Please prepare accordingly with water, a hat, comfortable walking/hiking shoes, and light clothing layers. After the hike, we will enjoy a sun tea made with some of the herbs we’ll see on our walk.
This hike will be led by local naturalist, herbalist, and gardener Sasha Emoniee. Sasha is an Earth guide from California whose offerings are rooted in the belief that you can be in reciprocity with the land wherever you are. She is interested in creating spaces and experiences that encourage people to interact with the Earth through all of the senses.
