LA Made: A Celebration of Taiwanese Music
About the Event
Jessica Chen (violin) and Henry Chen (cello) will present a duo performance showcasing the beauty and diversity of music from Taiwan and the Taiwanese diaspora.
Musical selections include Taiwanese folk songs (originally sung in Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese Hokkien, and Taiwanese aboriginal languages) as well as a suite from the DreamWorks TV show Abominable and the Invisible City, written by local LA-based Taiwanese-American composer George Shaw.
The performers, Jessica Chen and Henry Chen, draw on their Taiwanese-American heritage to present a personally meaningful program that will resonate with listeners.
