In Case You Missed It: Counterculture Photography of the 60s and 70s
About the Event
The LAPL Photo Collection's series Photographer's Eye welcomes Los Angeles photographer Jerry de Wilde, who will present a fascinating slideshow and lecture about his experiences as the co-founder of "The Farm," an artistic community in the Hollywood Hills during the uniquely creative, and at times turbulent era of Los Angeles in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1965, he and artist-filmmaker Anton Greene rented the 46-acre Barham Ranch, known as "The Farm," which became a haven for artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and poets. Moving fluidly between art, music, fashion, and activism, de Wilde presents a layered examination of a community shaped by the ideals of transformation, creativity, and shared experience.
