The Other Side of Memory: Photographs by Luis C. Garza / Film Screening / Book Signing / Reception

About the Event

Join us for an afternoon celebrating the work of acclaimed Chicano photographer Luis C. Garza, beginning with a special screening of the award-winning 15-minute documentary short Razon de Ser: Luis C. Garza.

Doors open at 2 p.m., and the screening will begin promptly at 2:15 p.m. A post-film conversation will follow with Luis C. Garza, moderated by Tony Diaz of Nuestra Palabra and featuring curator and collector Armando Durón, filmmaker Alessandro Gentile, and Melissa Richardson Banks of CauseConnect, Garza’s longtime artist representative and project partner. Following the discussion, Garza will sign copies of his latest photography book in the auditorium lobby.

A reception will also be held starting at 3:30 p.m. to celebrate the opening of his exhibition, The Other Side of Memory: Photographs by Luis C. Garza, on view in the Central Library’s First Floor Galleries through July 13, 2025.
