Film Screening: The Searchers

About the Event

The Searchers is a 1956 Western about an ex-Confederate soldier, Ethan Edwards, who obsessively searches for his niece after she is kidnapped by Comanche warriors. Over a multi-year journey, he and his adopted nephew, Martin Pawley, track the girl through the Southwest, a quest that explores complex themes of racism, revenge, and cultural identity through the morally ambiguous and deeply flawed character of Ethan.
