Guerrilla Gardening: DIY Seed Bombs

About the Event

Few things are as fun as getting your hands dirty, especially when the results are clay-and-compost seed bombs filled with California native wildflower seeds. In this talk-and-do workshop, participants will learn about the origin of “seed green-aids,” other green movements past and present, and will be encouraged to talk about their own ideas about sustainability and climate change. All materials are provided, and teens take home a bag full of bombs, along with instructions on how and when to launch them successfully. Limited to 15 participants.

The audience will learn:

  • Learn about the many sustainability movements and trends from the past and those going on today
  • Learn about climate change solutions and have the opportunity to voice their own opinions and share ideas with others
  • Learn about California wildflowers, the important difference between natives and invasive plants in relation to sustainability
  • Make their own seed bombs that they can take home to launch on their own wherever they choose

For disability-related accommodations, please call (213) 228-7430 at least five business days prior to the event. The City will make every effort to accommodate requests received with less notice.
